When your office has had an outbreak of Covid-19, which has led to multiple people being off sick from work, it is worth giving your office a deep clean to help prevent it from spreading further. You should request your employees work from home until you have given the office a deep clean to help ensure you can stop the spread of the virus. Below you can see some of the things you must do to give your office a deep clean that will disinfect it, kill any germs and bacteria left over, and ensure the safety of your employees.

Use PPE In Your Office Space

You will want to ensure you use the correct PPE equipment when cleaning your office. You should ensure that anybody in the office to clean it wears a face mask and gloves, and you may also want to have a plastic apron or coveralls that you can dispose of when the cleaning job is complete. Once you have the correct PPE, you can start cleaning and disinfecting your entire office to ensure nobody else catches Covid-19.

Cleaning Your Floors

When you have hard floors, you will want to use a disposable mop and disinfectant to clean them, and once finished, you can dispose of the mop. If you have carpets or rugs in your office, you will want to use a carpet cleaner and include disinfectant to ensure that any germs or bacteria are killed, and nobody will get sick.

Cleaning Workstations & Desks

You will want to use antibacterial wipes to clean the desks’ surface and wipe down computer screens, keyboards, and computers. You will also want to ensure you clean things on the desk, such as telephones and other items, and ensure you do not leave anything out. If you do not have any wipes, you can use a sponge with warm water and disinfectant, and ensure you clean all surfaces with it, throwing away the sponge once finished.

Cleaning The Toilets

The toilets in your office will be easier to clean as most of the surfaces in it are hard, and you will need to ensure you do not leave out any surface when you are cleaning them. Clean all the tiled surfaces and the sinks and toilets, and once you are done dispose of the items you used to clean the toilets.

Cleaning The Kitchen/Canteen

The room that will often take the longest to clean is the kitchen or canteen, and you must ensure you take everything out of the cupboards and wipe them down. You will also need to empty the contents in your fridge and ensure all appliances are clean, such as:

  • Fridge
  • Microwave
  • Toaster
  • Kettle

You will also need to clean all the furniture, countertops, floors, and walls in your kitchen, and once complete, your cleaning task should be done. You can invite everyone who is not sick back into the office again, and hopefully, you will have maintained the outbreak and no more of your employees will get sick. If you have another outbreak, you will need to repeat the cleaning process and remain vigilant to help prevent the spread of this illness.
